Dürr Group is a world-leading machine and plant manufacturer with strong expertise in the areas of automation and digitalisation and the owner of three highly regarded brands, Dürr, Schenck and HOMAG. The traditional Dürr brand has been synonymous with continuous innovation since 1896 and now offers a wide range of products in robot, process, and assembly technology for all areas of vehicle production, with a focus on painting and final assembly systems.

Dürr Group identified a potential compliance risk within SAP because of the historical employee data that would be held beyond its useful lifespan.

  • The organisation wanted to delete personal data found in Project Management objects in the SAP system that was no longer required by the organisation.
  • Dürr Group wanted to be able to perform a data deletion exercise for GDPR compliance purposes quickly, without compromising any of the company’s other SAP data records.
  • They also wanted to prepare for its impending migration to SAP S/4 HANA, by having an efficient ILM programme in place to prevent excessive data volume growth in the future.

That’s why the company reached out to TJC Group, Data Archiving and ILM experts, to identify these dependencies and draw a plan to delete personal information at project level.

TJC Group proposed a pragmatic approach to put in place the deletion mechanism in less than 100 days. These timeframes were possible thanks to TJC Group vast knowledge of ILM procedures in SAP coupled with the employment of the Archiving Sessions Cockpit (ASC). Accordingly, TJC Group implemented a data deletion project for the parent company, Dürr Group, and its subsidiary HOMAG. Once the project concluded, Dürr Group had the peace of mind to know they were able to manage personal data to comply with GDPR requirements.
