Carlsberg SAP Data Archiving and GDPR Compliance Case Study

Carlsberg Group is one of the leading brewery groups in the world today, with a large portfolio of beer and cider. Founded in 1847 by J.C. Jacobsen and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company is renowned for its commitment to innovation and sustainability within the brewing industry.

As a multinational company with global manufacturing operations, Carlsberg was running multiple ERP solutions. These different data structures made it difficult for the business to see a single view of operations. Individual ERP systems were expensive to maintain in some regions and Carlsberg could not consider a cloud migration without encountering other data management and GDPR compliance challenges.

Carlsberg commissioned TJC Group as technical experts to plan and execute ongoing data archiving and volume management programs on SAP systems to guarantee that data volumes would remain permanently under control, ensuring that the company would remain GDPR compliant. This would also help to minimise ownership costs and optimise system performance permanently.

TJC Group implemented a comprehensive data archiving strategy to keep data volume growth under control and reduce the cost associated with storing large volumes of unnecessary data. Additionally

Over the course of 10 years, TJC Group has implemented several data archiving programs and data blocking and retention programs with the use of SAP ILM with TJC Group automation software Archiving Sessions Cocpckpit (ASC) for data archiving and ILM. TJC Group also provides ongoing support through Professional Archiving Services.
