They say, ‘to build a great company, empowered employees are a must, and to empower employees, having a strong yet empathetic people person is the key’. From the historic city of Pune, Maharashtra comes our Human Resources Manager – Renuka Sharma, who has been helming the realm in our India office since she joined. We had a quick chat with her about her professional journey and life at TJC Group and outside the company. Our team had an amazing time learning about her experiences. Read on!

Answer: Hi, well… I have completed my primary and higher education in Pune. For my higher education, I pursued an MA in English Literature from Pune University, after which I pursued my MBA in HR from Salem University, Kerala. Honestly, my professional journey has been full of passion and very interesting. I started my career as an IT recruiter for 2 years, followed by 7 years in the core HR domain in various organisations across Pune and Bengaluru. For the last 5 years, I have been the HR manager here at TJC Group.

Answer: Oh, my role is quite exciting here. I joined TJC Group as an HR executive in 2020, handling complete HR operations & Administrative activities at TJC India Particularly. Over the years, I have taken on additional responsibilities of partially looking after IT Asset management, acting as a business partner between stakeholders, employees & management, compliance, and talent management. Additionally, I also look after employee lifecycle management and help add valuable contributions to the overall development of the company.

Answer: One of the many things that I like the most, is “Connecting with people”! It is exciting to have interactions with everyone in the company, right from new joiners to the top management leaders. It is very interesting to witness how each person intellectually makes an impact on the overall development of individuals and organisations. In short, I would say I love bringing and maintaining a human touch at the workplace.

Answer: This might be a contradictory answer to the previous question, but then again, connecting with people is also a challenge. Because, as fun as it is, dealing with people is never a simple task. There are several aspects that I have to take care of – both from employees and management’s perspective. Other than this, hiring top talents can also be challenging from time to time.

Answer: Remarkable achievements? Well, on the top of my mind, I was being honoured with People’s Champion Award by the management during our half-yearly conference, TJC Days July 2024. It was a proud moment for me. Also, I am happy about implementing several measures for cost-effective HR functioning, bridging the gap between the hiring budget & new joiners’ expectations, as well as building a healthy and positive work environment.

Answer: In my opinion, the key aspects of team management are knowing and understanding your team members, their strengths and weaknesses, fostering empathy and building faith and trust, empowering the team with new skills (hard skills and soft skills), and creating opportunities to commit and learn from mistakes.

Answer: You see… it can be challenging at times. But finding the right balance by using interpersonal skills is the key. As an HR Manager, I foster meaningful and persuasive communication, set clear expectations, facilitate collaboration, and address conflicts constructively to balance management needs with team well-being and productivity.

Answer: I see myself as a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), driving digital transformation forces in HR with an aim to cultivate and nurture a tech-friendly workplace culture.

Answer: I spend my time with loved ones, reading books on various topics (from fictional to management to spirituality), painting using multiple forms of art, and writing poems based on personal experiences. Also, I like spending time in nature, so I frequently go for rides to serene, quaint places and treks to historical forts and waterfalls.

Answer: My ideal vacation would be to travel to Japan, especially the countryside and beaches, using minimal screen, just unwinding and soaking in the surroundings, and trying different cuisines.

Answer: TJC Group stands out at par when it comes to work-life balance, friendly work environment, ownership of work, approachable management, positive work culture, and continuous learning opportunities in various technologies with a diversified workforce. It is simply a wonderful company where passion meets purpose and innovation.

Answer: As we continue to grow and evolve, embracing new technologies and innovative approaches is key to staying ahead. AI is transforming the way we work, making processes smarter and more efficient. However, while technology enhances productivity, our people remain our greatest strength. Let’s use AI to support us, not replace us – allowing us to focus on creativity, collaboration, and growth. I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you, building a workplace where innovation meets human connection. Keep learning, keep evolving!
