The Malaysian tax authorities, Inland Revenue Board (IRB), released a beta version of the e-Invoicing Software Development Kit (SDK) along with an update of the guidelines.
- The e-Invoice Software Development Kit (SDK) is a set of tools, libraries, and resources that provide APIs and development guidelines to support companies with the integration with MyInvois System.
- Revised e-Invoicing Guidelines: The latest e-Invoice Guideline (Version 2.0supersedes the previous version (released on 29 September 2023) and introduces an updated phased implementation schedule.

A gradual transition towards e-invoicing
IRB along with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), will implement mandatory electronic invoicing in Malaysia in stages. The government aims to enhance the efficiency of Malaysia’s tax administration management The adoption of electronic invoicing will impact all forms of transactions, including B2B, B2C, and B2G.
Timeline for e-invoicing implementation
- August 1, 2024: Taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM100 million.
- January 1, 2025: Taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM25 million and up to RM100 million.
- July 1, 2025: obligation extended to all other taxpayers.
