Microsoft PowerApps, a low-code/no-code solution
Microsoft PowerApps is Microsoft’s low-code no-code platform to develop mobile and web apps for any business need without requiring previous technical knowledge.
Low-code/no-code platforms have become increasingly popular. They provide a cost-effective and quick way to develop applications tailored to fit business requirements at a lower cost, rather than developing them from scratch or using off-the-shelf software. Low-code solutions also make software development easy, even if you aren’t an expert programmer. However, they don’t replace the need for talented developers rather professional developers can also benefit from the low-code platforms. In fact, TJC Group developers have put low-code/no-code platforms SAP Build and Microsoft Power Apps to the test, building a Sales Order Display app for one of our cloud applications, Enterprise Legacy System Applications (ELSA). Let’s see how it went!
Enterprise Legacy System Applications (ELSA)
ELSA is a system decommissioning solution to store and access legacy data at any time, from any source, through one single platform. Built on SAP BTP, ELSA allows users to visualise all systems that have been decommissioned (SAP and non-SAP) through the application legacy systems directory. ELSA application protects and future proofs legacy data – like archived tax records – and makes it readily accessible from either S/4HANA and from a UI5 web app. This application protects and future proofs legacy data – like archived tax records – and makes it readily accessible from either S/4HANA and from a UI5 web app.

This demo covers the process of designing the application layout within Microsoft Power Apps and establishing a connection with a database using REST APIs through custom connectors. Additionally, the video showcases how to integrate with SAP ERP seamlessly.
Benefits of low-code/ no-code platforms
Low-code / no-code have brought along many benefits:
- Faster Development: Both low-code and no-code platforms can speed up development by eliminating many manual coding tasks.
- Accessibility: No-code platforms enable non-technical users to create applications, empowering more people to participate in app development.
- Cost Reduction: The platforms can reduce the cost of training developers to develop simple applications such as the one demonstrated in the video, resulting in cost savings.
- Agility: Businesses can quickly respond to changing requirements and market demands with the agility provided by low-code and no-code tools.
Conclusion
Our hands-on exploration and application of Microsoft’s low-code/no-code platforms attest to its transformative potential in expediting application development while nurturing a harmonious blend of simplicity and innovation.
